Stone Mountain Adventures

It's about time that we talk about one of Atlanta's main attractions, Stone Mountain. If you are not familiar with this tourist destination, this is a very family friendly "theme" park. I say theme park in the sense that it has small rides, shops, and activities for all. This park also features a variety of outdoor attractions. There are ample hiking and biking trails, areas for picnicking, and kayaking spots. So let me break it down further.

First up are the family friendly stops. There are shops ranging in food to trinkets, treetop obstacle courses for kids, and even mini golf. The park also features play centers such as the Dinotorium, which is an indoor playground. Want to take a break from the crowds? No problem, go explore the grassy lawn at this park and find a quiet area to picnic with your crew. Throughout the year, there are also special events and shows that you can check out.

Second up are the outdoor options for my nature lovin' peps. If you are looking for a good sweat, I recommend you checkout the Walk Up Trail. This trail in particular goes from the parking lot to the very tip top of Stone Mountain itself. The views at the top are a 360 degree view of Atlanta which is spectacular. There is also a small museum at the top of the mountain with snacks and exhibits to see. There are so many trail options for hikers and visitors alike, take a look at a map and go crazy!

As I mentioned before, there are places to kayak as well. Since I haven't gone kayaking myself, I am not as familiar with the rules on this subject. For more information on this park's rules and regulations, please check it out here.

If you are ever in the metro Atlanta area and are looking for something to do with your friends and family, I would recommend this park. There is something for everyone here. It is fun, the people are friendly, and there actually is enough parking throughout. I will say though, if you are planning on visiting this park more than once, I would invest in the yearly park pass. Coming in at around twenty dollars as an entrance fee, which is steep for a park. Also keep in mind that it is just to get into the park. That fee is not counting all the attractions, food, and other tickets you might buy once inside. That is only my opinion though, so whatever you feel comfortable with, go for it!
