Red Top Mountain State Park
If you are looking for a great place to beat the heat this summer, then you need to check out Red Top Mountain State Park! Whether it be swimming, fishing, or water sports in general this park has it all. Located in Acworth Georgia, about 45 minutes NW of the bustling capital, this is a fantastic spot for a weekend getaway.
The park itself has several options for visitors such as a swimming beach, several hiking options, and campgrounds galore! Upon arrival, the first thing many will notice is the stunning views of Lake Allatoona. Coming in at 12,000 acres, this lake is massive and offers plenty of opportunities for visitors to enjoy lake life at its finest.
For hiking and biking enthusiasts, there are varying trail options from short paved trails to longer unpaved ones. The choice is yours when selecting which routes to trek across. If you aren't sure which is best for you, I recommend you pop into the visitor center and ask. When I visited, everyone was very friendly and helpful.
What I liked most about this park was that there is plenty of parking, several day options to do, and the park was clean. Whenever I am traveling around, I never know what I am going to get when going to hiking trails. Will the trails be well marked or left in disrepair? So I am always delighted when I visit a state park and it is well taken care of. In the future, I plan on visiting this park with my family to grill out or take advantage of the swimming beach!
