Jones Bridge State Park

Are you looking for some much needed fresh air and in need of a break from city life? Well look no further than Jones Bridge State Park located in Atlanta, GA. This park offers several options for families, friends, and your fur babes. There are picnic areas, benches everywhere, and sports areas galore!

When you arrive at the park you will see a small informational board, bathrooms, and a play park. There are also several seating options that are alongside the river there. Oh yeah, did I mention that this park is on the Chattahoochee River? It is beautiful! If you are into fishing, then this park might have some great spots to discover. (Be sure to research the fishing rules, since we didn't partake I am unsure how that works).

So let's talk about the trail. Like most I just Googled Jones Bridge Trail and it took us straight to the main parking lot area. Word to the wise, the trailhead is not located on that side of the river. The actual trailhead is on the other side of the park.

To get to the right starting point, instead enter into your GPS the "Jones Bridge Boat Ramp." I know what you are thinking, that makes no sense right? Well after researching again we saw other people mentioning this and gave it a try. Eureka! We found it! Once you arrive, park, take a gander at the map, and off you go.

The trail itself is extremely easy and flat for the most part. (There is a section that inclines, but after that it is smooth sailing). Coming in at around five miles long, there are so many sections to this trail that you can pick and choose along the way. This is a great option for those who want to mix and match the trails instead of backtracking the same way you came. As you trek through the forest you will see that it twists and turns to run alongside the river throughout. If you would like to take a picturesque break at any point along the river, it is ideal for picnicking.

Although we arrived and hiked in the main park area at first and then had to find the trailhead, we loved it there. The park is not very busy and spaced out enough that if it did become crowded there is enough room for everyone. If you are ever in the Atlanta area and wanting a chill state park to visit I recommend the Jones Bridge State Park. If you haven't seen it already please refer to my hiking video here, for a first hand look at what the park has to offer.
