Emery Creek Falls Trail

Ranking: Moderate

To most, the North Georgia Mountains are well known for their scenic views and rolling hills. While to others the mountains give an opportunity to explore, work-out, or even escape. Regardless of what you are looking for, the North Georgia Mountains have it all!

In particular, today I am talking about the Emery Creek Falls trail located in Chatsworth, GA. If you are looking for seclusion then look no further! This trail is a well hidden gem within the northern mountains. When we visited this trail, to be honest, we found it by accident. I was actually looking for a different trail that day but ended up taking a couple... wrong turns and somehow we ended up at Emery Creek.

Although it was by accident, I am very happy we ended up going there. This trail was a very good hike and I would rate it to be easy to moderate. The one thing you should know before going though is that you will be crossing streams and rivers. By the end of our hike we crossed like 3-4 going in and then had to cross them again going back out. So before you go, be sure to pack towels and wear some waterproof shoes!

Disclaimer- if you are wanting to walk barefoot at any point on this trail, be warned. It is very rocky and there are a ton of tree roots.

Anyways back to the trail itself. The trail begins splitting into what seems to be two ways. When in doubt follow the river out! You will be walking alongside the river and then crossing it to continue forward. I will say although I really enjoyed hiking this trail, it was very confusing at times. Trail markers are limited along the way and sometimes in sections of the trail the signs are on the way out, not in. So be sure to stop every once in a while to check around or ask someone. Luckily for us we ran into a few people who were familiar with the trail and they helped us out.

This trail is one of my favorites I have done so far. The rivers are beautiful, the trees full, and most of all the waterfall at the end was worth it. I also enjoyed how there are several spots along the way that would be perfect for a nice picnic. I will say that we did see children and dogs doing this trail as well. However, I would say hike with caution if you are planning to do so with either since you have to literally walk through water and climb large boulders along the way. I would say go for it though, just with caution. So if you are looking for a trail away from the beaten track, I would recommend you check out Emery Creek Falls!
