Kiddie to Sunset Rock Trail

Ranking: Moderate to Difficult

Alright let's talk about some steep steep stuff here folks. Located in Chattanooga, TN there is a trail called Kiddie Trail to Sunset Rock that will work your body out. The trail begins by parking in a small lot intertwined in a neighborhood. The GPS had a slight time finding the place, so be patient.

When you do arrive, I recommend you put on sunscreen and some bug spray. The bug spray is a given since you are going into a forest and all but the sunscreen- don't forget. Once you do make it to the tippy top, the sun is waiting for you. I was so glad that we had brought some since if you are like us you will be up there for some time. After you have sprayed and suited up, cross the street and begin.

This trail in particular, we found challenging. Coming in at around 3.4 miles long, this trail is you scaling a mountain. In the beginning to the middle of the trail, I would rank the hike as moderate. Not too bad at all, other than no breeze was getting through that thick brush. Now where the true challenge begins is when you see the rocky steps of steepness.

You will understand it once you see it for yourself, but there is a part of the trail that is all stair made out of rocks. This is where we kept pausing to rest as we finished out the trail. I would recommend you take your time hiking this section of the trail. The stairs are steep, some rocks unstable, and the elevation change hits you. I will say if you are familiar with steep hikes, then by all means rush through. I just know myself and I would not make it. Also I am too clumsy to run or rush through trails. Whenever I see people trail running I think to myself, "man if only I could walk without tripping, I could do that."

Once you do make it past the steps, you will arrive at a viewing point with a spectacular view of Chattanooga. Here is where you should take your time. Take some pics for the gram or have a snack break, either way please do enjoy it. There is enough space for several large groups at the top so there shouldn't be an issue of sharing the view.

Although this trail is a shorter one, it is challenging due to elevation change. I mean you are hiking up a mountain, so sometimes that is a given. I plan on hiking this trail again at some point and would definitely recommend you to check it out as well!
