James Island Country Park

I know this is going to sound insane but have you ever visited a single place where it made you think...could I live here? Just like that? No questions asked. Well I'm not exaggerating here when I say that this park in particular had me thinking this during my visit.

The park that I am referring to is called James Island County Park located in Charleston, SC. From the moment I arrived at this park I fell in love with the scenery, the trails, and honestly the people too! So what is so special about this place? Let's get into it.

Located right outside of downtown Charleston, this park has plenty of things to do. If you are an adrenaline junkie then there are several outdoor options for you. Some options include paddle sports, climbing, and even a challenge course! If you are wanting to learn about the history of the park, then there are cultural programs offered too.

Although I didn't see anyone doing this next activity I did see signs throughout the park for it. There also are several fishing options throughout the park but talk to the park peps on the rules. I also noticed that there are campgrounds and playgrounds throughout this park. So if you are looking to stay for an extended weekend, this park would be a great option for you and your family!

One thing that stuck out to me was how friendly the park workers were. Most of the time, everyone is nice but the workers at this park made you feel truly welcomed. As someone who had no idea what to do upon arrival it was a nice greeting. For more information on this park, check out this link.

My favorite thing about this park though was the scenery. It might be because I am not used to the coast but being able to see marshlands was breathtaking. I loved how the trails moved through these huge moss-covered trees to the wet marshlands. The trails were also very well marked and easy to navigate.

I could go on and on about this park and how special it was to me but I don't want to rant. If you have the time while visiting the beautiful city of Charleston, go check out this park!
